For me, counselling is essentially about creating a trusting relationship between the counsellor and the client. My aim as your counsellor would be to help you to reassert control over your life, and to do something about the feelings such as depression, anxiety, stress, anger or helplessness which might be affecting you. I would be trying to help you to discover the resources within yourself to free you to lead a more fulfilling life.
Through our sessions together, you would have the chance to look at your coping skills and how you might deal with change and loss in your career or personal life. You might also want to look at how you relate to others, as well as issues of personal awareness and growth.
And together, in a safe and confidential place, we could work on any deep-seated feelings from your past which might have been getting in the way of you having the life you want. Then, from an understanding of how the past might be affecting the present, you might have a greater sense of freedom to make good decisions about your future.
I also offer couples counselling for clients who want to work on their relationship together.
